Hey there! My name is Alexandria Myrick, and I am a web writer who specializes in creating original content for the web. I got my start in 2019 as a writing intern for an education reform thinktank. While there, I picked up the valuable skill of creating social media graphics and writing clear, descriptive captions. This skill is demonstrated on the Social Media Content page of this portfolio. Beyond that, I have always been interested in capturing my life, whether that’s with photos, videos, audio notes, or through my writing. You will see hints of this on the media garden page and the visual essay page. While I am still a work in progress, I am dedicated to developing as a web writer. I hope you enjoy my web writing portfolio!

Projects
Overview
Alexandria’s Vacation View
This HHTML media garden is a compilation of original mixed media including image, video, and audio. The media presented in this project was created on my trip to Jaco Beach, Costa Rica.
Creating this project was very rewarding, as it was my first time successfully working with HTML. I adapted the HTML code provided by my web writing professor to change the site’s background color and insert the image, video, audio, and text seen in the media garden.
Exploring Costa Rica
This visual essay presents over 15 images taken while in Costa Rica. Each image is accompanied by a short write up narrating my trip and the image itself.
While creating this visual essay, I was pleased to go through the memories of my very first international vacation, and found joy in bringing life to the photos by adding the narrative story blurbs to guide readers along my experience.
Social Media Content
Here are three flyers that I have created for hypothetical events held for the English department at Kennesaw State University. Each flyer was created by me, and I have included detailed captions for each post.
Creating social media posts is something that I have much prior experience doing. For this project, I chose to create each graphic with Canva, first starting with simple templates and adding to them as I saw fit.
The Best Birthday Ever
This interactive narrative game was designed for kids who love making their own choices, especially on their birthday. Each page gives the player choices that either lead them to having the best birthday ever or left with the option to start over.
This project was probably the most difficult of all. I began with the simple plan to create a fun and easy game for children. Once I wrote out my storylines, I went to Twine and created the interactive narrative by branching each outcome together.
